Camino Primitivo - Etapa 8, Cádavo Beira to Lugo

20.4.2013
30.5km

Between Cádavo and Vilabade

Vilabade. Town began in 15th century as Franciscan community for pilgrims. Iglesia de Santa María (constructed in 1457; renovated in 17th century with support of Diego Osorio Escobar, Viceroy of Mexico).

Casa Grande de Vilabade, Escobar's manor adjacent to the church.

Plaza de Vilabade, just below the church.

A house in Vilabade.

On the way to Castroverde.

Shepherd bringing out his flock after Castroverde.

Pilgrimage crucifix at Souto de Torres.

Between Souto de Torres and Santa María de Gondar.

Santa María de Gondar.

Through this part of Galicia, fields are marked with these vertical slate slabs rather than the traditional stacked-stone walls. Kilometers and kilometers of slate slab walls.

I have not run with the bulls, but now I have walked with the cows.
